Carbon Simple is a static website that provides a carbon footprint calculator and educational articles. We respect your privacy and keep data collection to a minimum.

What We Collect

Calculator Data

All carbon footprint calculations happen entirely in your browser. Your inputs (transport, food, housing, and consumption data) are never sent to our servers. We do not store, transmit, or have access to any data you enter into the calculator.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site. This may collect:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• General geographic region (country/city level)
• Device type and browser information
• Referral source (how you found our site)

Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out by using browser extensions like Google Analytics Opt-out or by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser settings.

Email Subscriptions

If you subscribe to our email updates, we collect your email address. This is stored securely using Cloudflare Workers KV. We use this solely to send you updates about new content on Carbon Simple. We do not share your email with third parties.

Cookies

We use cookies only for analytics purposes. We do not use cookies for advertising, tracking across sites, or storing personal preferences.

Third-Party Services

• Google Analytics — Website usage analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare Pages — Static site hosting. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare Workers + KV — Email subscription storage. Subscriber emails are stored in Cloudflare Workers KV.
• Google Fonts — Font delivery. Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN.

• Request deletion of your data
• Opt out of analytics tracking

Since we do not store calculator data and only use analytics, exercising these rights primarily involves managing your Google Analytics preferences.

Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months. We have no other data retention as we do not collect personal data directly.
